Giving it away

When Dave Pederson was here some time back, he shared about how at Fountain Vineyard they schedule times where they just give stuff away to one another. He recounted a specific incident where someone who was really in need went home with a car! This is taking community to a whole new level!

Ros was really inspired, and thought that we should do the same thing. So she is co-ordinating what we are doing this Sunday. Bring anything that you don't want or need or feel led by God to give away. Anyone in the church can then take it home if they want to. Obviously it is "first come first serve". Anything left over at the end will be given to a worthy charity/ministry. The only stipulation that I have is don't bring broken junk- make it worthwhile. Our hope is that this will be a start of a greater level of sharing and giving to one another.

The whole congregation of believers was united as one - one heart, one mind! They didn't even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, "That's mine; you can't have it." They shared everything. [ Acts 4:32 The Message ]
