Call to prayer

For a number of weeks I have been feeling an increased prompting from God with regard to prayer. I feel very strongly that God is calling us a community to pray more individually, and more corporately.

Last Thursday was the last session of the "Natural Evangelism" course we have been going through. A large part of the final chapter was on praying for evangelism. I took the opportunity to share how I have been feeling about prayer, and there seemed to be an overwhelming sense of agreement from everyone present.

As we spent some time in prayer at the end of the evening, Glenda had a picture of threads being woven to form a cloth. The cloth was white, but the thread that was being woven as she looked on, was red.

This red thread symbolised prayer becoming an integral part of the fabric of our church. At the same time two others saw the same picture. How is that for confirmation! We need to be praying more.

To this end, the Vincent Home Group will be put on hold for a period of time. The members of this group will instead form the core of a new prayer meeting at V-Cafe on Tuesday nights, beginning at 7pm and running for an hour. There will also be prayer in the mothers room on Saturday evenings immediately before church at 6pm.

Prayer Meetings are great, but there does need to be a groundswell of personal prayer. We are all responsible for praying. The focus of the teaching I will be giving over the next couple of weeks will be prayer, and we will be covering the topic exhaustively, from the basic principles, to the more subtle details.

Lets get praying!
